What Matthews does to a window
Matthews grew up around a railroad depot and kept its downtown, and the neighborhoods off Sardis Road, Weddington Road and McKee Road filled in under the oaks and pines from the 1980s on. Those trees are mature now, and they do two things to the glass. In April they drop the yellow-green pollen onto every window in town, and the rest of the year they shade the north and east sides of the houses enough that the glass and screens stay damp and grow a green film through the humid months. Mint Hill, out Lawyers Road and Matthews-Mint Hill Road, is more open and more rural, with larger lots, horse pasture and a fine dust off the fields on dry days.
Most yards in the newer sections are irrigated, and the sprinklers that run from May to September hit the same lower panes every morning and leave mineral spots that build with each month. Homes on the fairways at Olde Sycamore and the larger properties in Cheval and Ashe Plantation often run on wells, which spot the glass faster. Construction continues on the edges of both towns, especially along Idlewild Road and toward Stallings, and the red clay dust settles on glass well beyond the job site. In October the willow oaks and maples in the older Matthews neighborhoods drop into the gutters in about three weeks, and the leaf litter stains the sills where it sits wet.

Do you work inside Cheval and Olde Sycamore?
Yes. We are set up for the gate procedure at Cheval and work Olde Sycamore and Ashe Plantation on the same regular day. Add us to your gate list or give us the procedure when you book, and we send a text the morning of each visit so you know when we are coming.
